Honey

Honey is vital substance produced by bees, it has significant importance either from nutritional or medical point. It is a sweet food and likewise has varying properties. Since ancient times it is being consumed by humans as primary food or used as a secondary element preparation of other products. Composition of honey is different and it depends upon the flora being used and temperature.
Honey also has religious significance in Hinduism and Buddhism notably. Some believe that honey is useful in healing burns and rashes as well as to sore throats. Sources from where it could be obtained are wild bee colonies and farm beehives.
From medicinal point of view honey works both as antiseptic and antibacterial substance. It is helps in treatment of diabetic ulcer and blocks the growth of microorganisms like bacteria. Honey also acts to control sore throats and cough.
Honey should not be given to children less than one year for it may affect their digestive system.
